The high school sunday school class meets @ 9:30 a.m. every Sunday morning in the church basement classroom. We have a bible discussion lesson that is intended to keep the students thinking about the importance of the Bible. We are currently in the book of EZEKIEL. Below you will find a short exert taken from the class in the 4th chapter.
READ EZEKIEL 4:1-3
REMEMBER THAT THIS PROPHACY WAS GIVEN TO EZEKIEL 3 YEARS AFTER THE CAPTURE OF THE HEBREW PEOPLE BY THE BABYLONIANS.
IN BABYLON THE USE OF TILES WAS A FORM OF PAPER. THE TILES WERE MADE OF CLAY, AND YOU USED A STICK AS A PENCIL. THE TILES WERE BAKED IN AN OVEN IF YOU WANTED THE PAGE TO LAST A LONG TIME. THEY WERE HEATED BY THE SUN IF YOU NEEDED IT TO LAST A SHORT TIME, OR NOT HEATED IF IT WAS USED AS SCRATCH PAPER.
WHY DID GOD TELL EZEKIEL TO DRAW A CITY ON THE TILE?
WHY DID GOD USE MILITARY WEAPONS IN VERSE 2, AND A COOKING POT IN VERSE 3?
GOD WANTED TO SHOW EZEKIEL THAT THE CITY WOULD BE IN RUINS WHEN THEY RETURNED. THE BATTERING RAMS WOULD KNOCK DOWN THE WALLS OF THE CITY AND THE BUILDINGS.
