Pastor Oren Douglas Tackett (Doug Tackett) was born on January 1, 1945 in Salyersville
KY to Oren and Tessie Tackett. He was one of eleven children and was raised in the post depression era by hard working chrisitan
parents. He attended Salyersville Schools, graduating in 1962. Soon after graduating Pastor Doug moved to Ohio to find
work. Pastor Doug and Gatha Louella Chapman were married in September 1963 and they have four children. Gatha passed
away in 1987. In 1965 Pastor Doug gave his life to the Lord at the First Church of God on Summit Street in Shelby. Pastor
Doug was called to preach God's word in 1968, because of the anti education era, he did not pursue a formal education in ministry,
but he knows that he was trained by some of the finest preachers God had ever called! In 1972 he moved to Shelby Freewill
Baptist Church where he served as a youth leader, sunday school teacher and assistant pastor. Pastor Doug and his family loved
to sing and they would travel throughout Ohio and surrounding areas singing gospel music. His most requested song is "The
Lighthouse." In 1990 Pastor Doug married Mary Fellure
of Shelby. Pastor Doug was asked to pastor Taylortown Community Church in 1995 and he is still preaching the Word of God.
Along with his Pastoral duties Pastor Doug also offers personal counseling, hospital visits, weddings, and funerals. He is
very much involved with his community, praying with other area pastors and the Mayor of Shelby every week and enjoys
seeing it thrive into a city where people feel welcomed and safe.
